Bugs / Issues

Report any bugs or issues in the comments below and we'll do our best to fix them.  We would rather you slam us here than in the permanent ratings on Google Play (Android Marketplace).

Links from the Place Detail page to Foursquare:
Problem: You have the Foursquare native app installed on your phone.  You are on a Place Book place detail screen and you click on the Foursquare button.  Android asks you to select the Foursquare native app or browser and you select "browser".  Then Foursquare closes without even starting and you go back to the place detail page.
Solution: Go to the Android menu, click "Preferences -> Link to Foursquare" then select "Native app".  Then you should be able to press the Foursquare button, select native app when Android prompts you, and you will land on the Foursquare place within their native app.

Known issues we are working on:
We are working on supporting the newer version of embedded Google Maps which has changed from "tiles" to vector format.  All this means is that you won't see the tiles flashing in and out of view.

  1. Now that Google earth and Google maps are compatible and more effective I'd like to export my maps I created with your sweet app into a kml file for import.

    1. Hi Libs, I will check that out. Thanks for the feedback.

  2. I second the request for KML export.

I think Place Book to Place Book import/export would be incredibly useful as well. That would allow me to keep my phone and tablet in sync as well as exchange POIs and lists of POIs with friends and colleagues.

    1. Hi AP3net, I am going to support KML import/export within a couple months after I push out this next update that allows you to backup/restore your places/lists to the cloud. This will allow you to keep multiple devices in sync. For the KML export, do you want to press a button and Place Book will email you a physical KML file that you can then import into another program (Google Maps and/or Place Book)? Good suggestion and keep more of them coming as you use the app!

    2. Email and/or bluetooth transport would be ideal, but email only would be fine.

  3. There are also some issues with copy/paste. The phone number field in particular will not allow any form of paste. For other fields, you can paste directly sometimes, but normally have to open your clipboard from your keyboard and select the item.

Issues are on Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S3

  4. Installed on Galaxy S3. After successfully backing up, both my wife's S3 and mine freeze with a black screen after attempting to restore the backup. Place book becomes totally non responsive and when I do terminate it there is no restored lists on our phones. Any ideas please.

  5. I'd love to have a Windows desktop version to go with my Xoom tablet and Android phone - as an old luddite, the keyboard is friendlier and quicker for me....
